Preliminary Summary on TAPI 

With this article, we connect and sum up the contributions that our team members made so far. As the first part of our summary will show, the pipeline could be a cornerstone in the diversification of the Turkmen gas exports and contribute to economic recovery of the country. It seemed that the TAPI project made some progress, therefore the second part of the analysis is an overview of the historical development and an outline of the status quo. Nevertheless, several potential obstacles arose during the recent past that reduced the likeliness of TAPI’s success or will at least lead to a delayed completion. These potential pitfalls will subsequently be analyzed by looking at the four involved countries and each’s relations to the three project partners. Finally, the other major players stakes in the project will be investigated. This includes Russian, Chinese and European interests in TAPI.
